The family-oriented seaside suburb of Point England is known for its warm, culturally diverse community.

It’s popular with families who enjoy the plentiful green space and quality schooling in the area. Point England Primary has enjoyed remarkable success as a pioneering participant in Manaiakalani, a digital learning programme that has significantly lifted achievement rates among Tāmaki children.

NEW HOMES ARE COMING TO POINT ENGLAND AND PANUMURE NORTH

Around 1,230 new market, state and affordable homes are coming to Point England as part of the Tāmaki regeneration programme. Over the next twenty years, the area will become a grid of liveable streets connected to public transport and open space, centred around a pedestrian-focused and greened Anderson Avenue.

The programme has identified opportunities for new amenity in Point England, such as an urban farm, and improved reserves. We will support the existing youth centre and collaborate with them to provide outdoor amenity nearby. We will also celebrate and invest in local heritage properties.

We will work alongside locals on creative approaches to test out street designs, such as street ‘furniture’, where cars can go and tree planting. This is made possible through NZTA’s ‘Tactical Urbanism’ fund.

Construction is planned in a staged way, beginning with design and community and Mana Whenua consultation, and progressing through demolition, civil construction, and building.
